B1 COURSE PROGRAM

Objectives

Understand the main points of clear texts and produce simple speeches.

Contents

  • Language content:
    • Compound past tense and simple conditional.
    • Basic subjunctive (wishes, recommendations).
    • Conjunctions and connectors.
  • Communication topics:
    • Talking about plans and dreams.
    • Expressing opinions.
    • Solving everyday problems.

Immersion activities

  • Film forum.
  • Tandem with Spanish speakers.
  • Project to interview local people.

WEEKLY SCHEDULE

Format:

  • 3 hours of classes per day (Monday to Friday)→ 15 hours per week in total.
  • 2 hours of workshops per week.
  • 2 hours of cultural activities per week.
  • 2 hours of real-life immersion activities per week.

WEEK 1: Making plans

Objective

Talk about the future, express intentions and desires.

Contents

Grammar: Simple future tense, ir a + infinitive, subjunctive in temporal clauses.

Vocabulary: Activities, trips, personal projects.

Others

Workshop: Ideal weekly schedule.

Cultural activity: Documentary about young Hispanics and their dreams.

Immersion: Survey of local people → "What are your plans for this year?".

WEEK 2: Opinions and debates

Objetivo

Express agreement, disagreement and justify ideas.

Contents

Grammar: Argumentative connectors, present subjunctive (opinions and assessments).

Vocabulary: Society, current events, media.

Others

Workshop: Guided debate → "Is it useful to learn languages?".

Cultural activity: Reading and analysis of newspaper articles.

Immersion: Street interviews on topics of interest to young people.

WEEK 3: Personal stories

Objective

To narrate stories with rich vocabulary and tense usage.

Contents

Grammar: Present perfect, simple past, imperfect, and pluperfect tenses.

Vocabulary: Emotions, personal relationships, events.

Others

Workshop: Personal micro-stories.

Cultural activity: Short film with narrative analysis.

Immersion: Oral narration of anecdotes among classmates and local people.

WEEK 4: The world of work

Objective

Talk about work experience, write a resume and a cover letter.

Contents

Grammar: Periphrastic passive voice, real conditional sentences.

Vocabulary: Work environment, skills, academic training.

Other

Workshop: Writing a cover letter.

Cultural activity: Talk with a local entrepreneur or visit to a coworking space.

Immersion: Job interview simulation.

WEEK 5: Problems and simulations

Objective

Identify and propose solutions in everyday contexts.

Contents

Grammar: Impersonal structures, conditional sentences (Type 1 and 2).

Vocabulary: Conflicts, city, services, complaints.

Others

Workshop: Roleplay of problematic situations (at a hotel, airport, etc.).

Cultural activity: Analysis of real user complaints (social media, photos).

Immersion: Make a complaint/claim at a local store.

WEEK 6: Media and communication

Objective

Analyze news, media, and social networks.

Contents

Grammar: Indirect style, reflexive passive voice.

Vocabulary: Networks, news, technology.

Others

Workshop: Create a fake/real news story.

Cultural activity: Visit to a local radio station or media outlet.

Immersion: Group video report (topic of your choice).

WEEK 7: Traveling and exploring

Objective

Describe places and customs, and give recommendations.

Contents

Grammar: Subjunctive with expressions of desire and recommendation.

Vocabulary: Tourism, culture, colloquial expressions.

Others

Workshop: Create a collaborative travel guide.

Cultural activity: Gastronomy of Spanish-speaking countries.

Immersion: Guided tour by students for new students (in Spanish).

WEEK 8: Final project and review

Objective

To evaluate learning through a practical project.

Review of all verb tenses.

Review of complex structures (subjunctive, conditional, direct speech).

Final project: "A day in my Hispanic life".

Suggested final project: “A report on my experience” → 3-5 minute podcast, blog, or video in which each student recounts their immersion experience.

Final assessment

Written test, comprehension and oral presentation.

Others

Cultural activity: Farewell dinner with live music.

Immersion: Oral presentations open to the local public.
