SPANISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE: LEVEL A2

A2 COURSE PROGRAM

Objectives

Understand phrases and expressions related to areas of expertise that are relevant to students.

Contents

  • Language content:
    • Past perfect and imperfect.
    • Comparatives and superlatives.
    • Near future.
  • Communication topics:
    • Talking about past experiences.
    • Giving and receiving directions.
    • Talking about food and health.

Immersion activities

  • Visit to a restaurant: ordering food.
  • Spanish cooking class.
  • Surveys of native speakers (on the street or on campus).

WEEKLY SCHEDULE

Format:

  • 3 hours of classes per day (Monday to Friday)→ 15 hours per week in total.
  • 2 hours of workshops per week.
  • 2 hours of cultural activities per week.
  • 2 hours of immersion practice activities per week.

WEEK 1: Where have you been?

Objective

Talk about past experiences.

Contents

Grammar: Present perfect tense, time markers.

Vocabulary: Travel, vacations, leisure activities.

Others

Workshop: "My dream trip" (poster).

Cultural activity: Visual account of famous trips.

Immersion: Interviews → "What did you do over the weekend?".

WEEK 2: Health and well-being

Objective

Talk about ailments and healthy routines.

Contents

Grammar: To hurt, to have to, imperative for giving advice.

Vocabulary: Parts of the body, doctors, healthy habits.

Others

Workshop: Role play → "At the pharmacy".

Cultural activity: Comparison of home remedies (Spanish-speaking countries).

Immersion: Visit to a herbalist's shop/Simulate a doctor's appointment.

WEEK 3: My past and my memories

Objective

Describe childhood and past events.

Contents

Grammar: Imperfect vs. perfect past tense.

Vocabulary: Games, school, family, emotions.

Others

Workshop: "My childhood" (memory album).

Cultural activity: Popular childhood stories and songs.

Immersion: Ask local people about their childhood.

WEEK 4: Shopping

Objective

Shopping, comparing products, asking for prices.

Contents

Grammar: Comparatives and superlatives, direct object pronouns.

Vocabulary: Clothes, shops, prices, sizes, colors...

Others

Workshop: Fashion show in class.

Cultural activity: Visit to a traditional store.

Immersion: Trip to the mall and shopping assignment.

WEEK 5: The world of work

Objective

Talk about professions and work routines.

Contents

Grammar: Near future tense, simple conditional.

Vocabulary: Professions, workplaces, interviews.

Others

Workshop: Job interview simulation.

Cultural activity: Virtual or real visit to a local company.

Immersion: Create a basic CV in Spanish.

WEEK 6: At home and in the community

Objective

Talk about household chores and social relationships.

Contents

Grammar: VPronominal verbs, use of the impersonal "se".

Vocabulary: Household chores, neighbors, coexistence.

Others

Workshop: Game of rules for coexistence.

Cultural activity: Customs in Hispanic homes.

Immersion: Survey on domestic habits.

WEEK 7: Culture and leisure

Objective

Express cultural tastes and make recommendations..

Contents

Grammar: Subjunctive in recommendations (qué + subjunctive!), expressions of taste.

Vocabulary: Movies, music, books, TV series.

Others

Workshop: My cultural top (group presentation).

Cultural activity: Trip to the cinema or an exhibition.

Immersion: Ask local people for their recommendations.

WEEK 8: Final project and assessment

Objective

Integrate everything learned and present a project.

Contents

Grammar: General review.

Vocabulary: General review.

Preparation of the final project (free topic: travel, daily life, etc.).

Suggested final project: "My life in Spanish"→ Creative presentation (video, poster, podcast, or oral presentation) about your immersion experience.

Final assessment

Written test, comprehension and oral presentation.

Others

Cultural activity: Party with Hispanic music and food.

Immersion: Self-guided tour by students.
