ACTIVITIES FOR LEARNING SPANISH

Actividades para aprender español

At Komalingua Landaberde, we understand learning Spanish as an experience that goes far beyond the classroom: it's a gateway to new people, experiences, and ways of understanding the world. For this reason, we have designed a "Cultural Experiences in Spanish as a Foreign Language" program integrated into our curriculum, which allows students to experience the language naturally, authentically, and meaningfully.

These activities, aimed at students of all ages, take place throughout the year and are exclusive to our center in Vitoria-Gasteiz. They occur during school hours, are included in tuition, and are aligned with the levels established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), without requiring any specific prior level, as they are designed as inclusive spaces where learning occurs progressively.

In addition to classes, the program includes a wide variety of social, cultural, gastronomic, tourist, and sporting activities, as well as full-day excursions, all designed to fully immerse students in local life. Every walk, visit, or interaction becomes a real opportunity to practice Spanish while discovering the essence of Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Through these experiences, students share moments with other students and locals, fostering a close connection with the culture and promoting a vibrant and memorable learning experience.

Our goal is for each student to make the most of their stay: to learn, explore, and make Spanish an active part of their daily life from the very first moment.

At Komalingua, you don't just study Spanish: you live it, experience it and make it your own.

CULTURAL EXPERIENCES IN ELE

Pintxo day

On the third Thursday of every month, we celebrate the traditional pintxopote, one of the most representative customs of Basque culture. Through a gastronomic tour of the city center, students discover the rich local cuisine while interacting in Spanish in real-life situations.

This activity transforms the flavors, aromas, and atmosphere of the old town into an open-air classroom where communication flows spontaneously.

Students practice conversational structures, expand their gastronomy-related vocabulary, and develop their sociolinguistic competence in authentic contexts.

Nature walk

On a monthly basis*, we organize outings to various natural areas in the city, such as Salburua Park, Los Fresnos Park, and different sections of the Vitoria-Gasteiz Green Belt.

During these outings, students participate in guided communicative activities that encourage oral interaction, description of the surroundings, expression of opinions, and narration of experiences. In addition, cultural and environmental content is incorporated, enriching the experience and fostering a deeper understanding of the local context.

This activity not only contributes to the development of language skills but also promotes well-being, teamwork, and a connection with the environment.

Reading club

Every other Tuesday, the school offers a space dedicated to reading and the exchange of ideas. In the reading club, students work with texts adapted to their level (stories, short stories, opinion pieces, etc.) as well as with authentic literature at more advanced levels.

The sessions are led by teachers, who propose activities before, during, and after reading, aimed at developing reading comprehension, enriching vocabulary, and fostering oral expression. Through dialogue and shared reflection, students compare perspectives, interpret meanings, and make connections to their own experiences.

Furthermore, the reading club is conceived as an intercultural space where relevant topics from the Spanish-speaking world are addressed, promoting critical thinking and active student participation.
